- We’re Hitting the Road to Washington, DC
Our first-ever RV was a Class C that we rented to travel with friends and family to Washington, DC in January, 2009. We drove from Long Island, NY to College Park, MD and stayed at the Cherry Hill Park. Because the RV was winterized, we were unable to use any water hook-ups so there were frequent trips to the bathrooms/showers located not too far away.
This was the trip that planted the seed leading to considering life “on the road”.
- Our Second Trip in a Class C
- Let’s build a fire
- Smores, anyone?
- Relaxing around the fire
We decided to return to Washington, DC in 2014 so we got another Class C and headed to the Washington DC/Capitol KOA in Millersville, MD. We built our first campfire and had the opportunity to see what “living” in the RV felt like as we had full hook-ups. Wi-Fi was not so good, and there was NO TV reception, at all.
But, now we had no doubt, we were definitely going to get “on the road”. Yes, we could definitely be “snowbirds”! Let’s start the research and the shopping!

- The Mohawk River runs right here outside our site.
- “Big Poppa” and “Baby Huey”
Our first trip as fulltimers took us to Arrowhead Marina and RV Park in Glenville (Schenectady), NY. This is a beautiful and serene park situated on the banks of the Mohawk River. A truly wonderful site to begin this new phase of our living our dream on the road.

Timberlane Campground in Clarksboro, NJ is the first leg of our trip. The park is lovely, as our the camp hosts. We’ve made new friends and started things out with a very nice experience of camp living.
